Simon Jones in the Daily Mail is reporting today that Aston Villa and Sunderland are showing an interest in England international, and Spurs winger Andros Townsend.
Townsend, 23, is determined to break through fully into the first team at White Hart Lane and play consistently, but Mauricio Pochettino is looking to reshape his side as he looks for a serious push for the top four.
The 23-year old made 17 league appearances for the Lilywhites last season, compared to 25 in 2013-14. In the national side, Townsend seems to of found his feet scoring three goals in nine games, becoming a regular under Roy Hodgson.
Already this summer Spurs have sold three midfielders with Paulinho, Lewis Holtby, and Etienne Capoue all leaving the North London side.
Tim’s Connections
Although this is a large fee for a player that hasn’t established a first-team role for Spurs often enough. Townsend could be an integral part of the Villa side. Furthermore, again Tim Sherwood’s connections to Spurs could be a factor if Villa were to launch a bid for the direct winger.
