Villa fans cry out for experienced keeper
It is no secret that Aston Villa are in deep trouble this season. Sitting seven points adrift the foot of the Premier League table and eleven away from security, it’s safe to say that there’s little hope.
Things were made even worse by Remi Garde’s side’s failure to get a win against League Two side, Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup third round, as the Premier League side were only able to get a 1-1 draw.
There are many points that Villa must improve on to have any chance of making something of their season and it has been widely reported that a goalkeeper heads their list; a target that isn’t a surprise given their woeful defensive form.
With names being thrown around such as French international Steve Mandanda and the inclusion in the side of back-up goalkeeper Mark Bunn against the Chair Boys, a new name was among Villa fans’ desired targets; David James. Yes; that David James.

The former England ‘keeper was in attendance of the tie due to presenting duties but was being touted for a move back to the club by desperate Villa fans.
The travelling faithful of the club chanted ‘Sign him up’ repeatedly as the ex-Villa shot stopper walked across the stand in which they were situated; sadly for the supporters, James may not fancy a move back.
There are many potential solutions to Villa’s defensive woes, but it seems as though the veteran ‘keeper will not be heading back to his former club to steady the ship – and who can blame him?
