Aston Villa are closing in on their first signing of the window according to reports in Italy.

Lazalita report how Villa are closing in on the signature of Croatian international goalkeeper, Lovre Kalinic.

The Italian news outlet suggest Villa look set to beat Serie A sides, Lazio and Inter Milan to the shot-stopper who is currently playing in his home country for Hadjuk Split.

Since making his debut in 2009, Kalinic has gone on to make 78 appearances for Split, whilst also spending time out on loan at numerous sides. He has also appeared twice for the Croatian national team since getting his first cap in 2014.

The source reports how deal could be worth around €3-million.

Aston Villa are in dire need of a goalkeeper with Brad Guzan having a shaky season. Mark Bunn has stepped up to the plate in recent weeks, but it wouldn’t come as any surprise if The Villans were to bring another keeper in.
