Another long-running saga at Aston Villa could be coming to its head this weekend with the Mirror reporting that the Premier League’s bottom side are in talks with Arsenal defender, Mathieu Debuchy ahead of a loan move until the end of the season.

John Cross reports how Villa will have to stump up an eye-watering £60k a week for the former-Newcastle man as well as a £1.5-million loan fee. It is said to have been an issue for other clubs interested in the Frenchman.

A.S Roma, A.S Monaco, Bayer Leverkusen, and Sunderland had all previously shown interest in Debuchy as well as Villa, but a move to Remi Garde’s now seems likely.

The 30-year old joined Arsenal from Premier League rivals, Newcastle United in 2014 for around £12-million. He has since only made 12 appearances in an Arsenal shirt with Hector Bellerin’s form and Debuchy’s own injury issues restricting him.

Debuchy is still hopeful of impressing the French national bosses ahead of the European Championship in his home country this June.
