Idrissa Gana Gueye has revealed that Didier Drogba was the man who convinced him to join Aston Villa, The Birmingham Mail have reported.
The midfielder has had an indifferent start to his career in Claret and Blue, despite being an ever-present in midfield under both Tim Sherwood and Remi Garde.
The high energy midfielder has given balance and cover in a weak midfield in recently, but not all fans are convinced by the Senegalese international.
Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Gueye confirmed that Drogba told him to sign for the club, stating that despite being down the bottom in recent years, Villa are a good club.
Didier Drogba, undoubtedly a Premier League legend is a close friend of Gueye’s, both rumoured to have the same agent.
Idrissa Gueye also spoke warmly of how he has adapted to life in the Premier League and to Aston Villa, speaking about how the club should not be sitting bottom of the table, due to the size of the club.
I will continue to try and do my best for this club because it is a huge club that shouldn’t be on the bottom of the table
Idrissa Gueye managed to get his first Villa goal in recent weeks against Wycombe.
Lets hope for Villa’s sake he can get a few more.
