Grealish enjoys dream England U21 debut
Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish may have injured a frustrating season at the Premier League’s basement side but some of the pain may have been healed this evening after a blistering performance for England’s under 21s on his debut.
The Solihull-born youngster was making his first appearance in an England shirt since switching allegiances from Ireland where he had played all his international football to date.
Grealish is part of England’s squad in France taking part in the Toulon tournament. England won their opening match against Portugal last week 1-0 with Grealish featuring as a substitute late on.
But against Guinea, the Villa academy started and made the desired impact scoring twice and assisting twice in a comprehensive 7-1 victory over the African nation. It wasn’t all easy for England though when Thierno Diallo made it 1-0 to the underdogs.
It didn’t take long for England to respond though through Grealish who coolly finished. He added a second amongst the rout where Norwich’s Nathan Redmond scored a wonder goal along. Other goals came from under-21 captain James Ward-Prowse, Cauley Woodrow, who scored twice and an own goal seeing off Guinea.
