Xia doesn’t care about allegations
New Aston Villa owner, Tony Xia says he doesn’t care about allegations made against him as he prepares to revamp the football club.
In an interview with CNN, he claimed that the Chinese government is not involved in any of the current take over at Villa Park. He admitted to owning five different businesses in China but stressed that things work differently there. Xia blamed a misinterpretation in languages for any allegations made against him.
It’s a miscommunication between languages. We do control even more than five public companies. I don’t care where they came from. What I have to say is wait until you get things done, that’s the most important thing.
Money was a frequent topic in the interview and Xia was confident he had the money available to buy the club.
He said:
We have a deposit, more than £100m cash in an account in England. Don’t worry about that. I’m a private person, I don’t want to be public (about things). I want to stay low profile so I can do the things I like. I will take my responsibility to make it right.
Attention turned to football and Xia was very open about his ambitions for the club, he alluded to a long-term project at Villa Park, but keen to ensure the main focus is on getting the club back into the Premier League.
First, we need to get the club back to where it belongs. Then we have to be realistic. Hopefully we can get back into the top six (in the Premier League) like the club was before and then we will have the chance to play in Europe again.
He confirmed that a managerial announcement would be made soon.
