Who was Villa’s best forward in the Premier League era?
Despite Villa often signing a number of forwards who were frankly awful during the Premier League era, they’ve occasionally stumbled across a decent forward.
Admittedly, they’ve been few and far between, with Villa’s forward line normally led by a misfiring big money signing or an academy product who is not quite good enough.
However, Villa have had the occasional striker who knew how to find the back of the net whilst donning the claret and blue.
Dean Saunders was Villa’s main goal scoring threat in the early Premier League era alongside Dwight Yorke, before Juan Pablo Angel lit up the Premier League for one season in the mid-2000’s.
Although never prolific, John Carew had a knack of scoring big goals before leaving in 2011. Christian Benteke arrived in 2012 and scored 49 goals before departing in 2015.
