Watford goalkeeper emerges as Villa target
Aston Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo is targeting the former Manchester City goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon according to a report.
The Mirror report how the Villans boss is keen to add Pantilimon to his squad as Villa’s first choice goalkeeper but it is said that the Romanian international is not looking to take a pay cut to drop down a division to the Championship.
The 6ft 8″ goalkeeper only joined the Hornets in January from Sunderland but has played second fiddle to Gomes for the Premier League season, only seeing action in the FA Cup.
Villa are in the market for a goalkeeper with Brad Guzan looking to be replaced.
Pantilimon still has three years on his current deal but has never really played much first team football since moving to Manchester City in 2011 from Politehnica Timișoara.
