Amavi rubbishes talk of Villa exit
Jordan Amavi has distanced himself from speculation linking him with a move away from Villa Park – insisting he is fully focused on life in the Championship.
Marseille are the most recent side to be linked with a move for the Frenchman, who has impressed since returning from an ACL injury which ruled him out for the majority of last season.
According to a report by French publication L’Equipe, Amavi has attracted attention from Marseille and they are quietly confident of enticing him back to Ligue 1 in January.
However, Amavi has told SoFoot (via Birmingham Mail) that he has not entertained the idea of leaving Villa this winter.
“For now, I’m at Aston Villa, they rely on me,” Amavi said. “I will do my best to make up. Later, we will see later. I do not think I’ll go to Marseille, I’m at Aston Villa and I do not think about leaving.
Personally, I feel well at Aston Villa, the atmosphere in the group is good, the facilities are beautiful, the city is beautiful too. Despite the fact that we’re in division two [the Championship], I am at Aston Villa.
“The summer transfer window, I told my agent I wanted to stay, and leaders have asked my opinion too. If clubs were positioned, I do not know if Villa would have let me go, but I had decided to stay.
“Today, I play, I try to get back to my best.”
Amavi impressed scouts from a host of clubs across Europe, including Liverpool, at the start of last season, but an ACL tear sustained while on international duty appeared to deter suitors from following up their initial interest.
