Serie A Side In Advanced Talks For Villa Keeper
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Serie A side Atalanta are in advanced talks with Aston Villa over a move for Pierluigi Gollini.
Gollini, who only joined Villa last summer from Hellas Verona, was Villa’s undisputed number one for a number of months. However, a string of mistakes that have cost Villa dearly seems to have to put pay to that status.
He has found himself sitting behind Mark Bunn in the pecking order, and the recent arrival of Sam Johnstone from Manchester United has added another obstacle between Gollini and the number 1 spot.
Atalanta are currently on the look out for a new number one keeper as Marco Sportiello is leaving to join Fiorentina, having turned down the chance to play in the Premier League with Watford.
Atalanta, it is believed, want Gollini on loan until the end of the season, with the option of making the move a permanent one (for an undisclosed fee) should Gollini impress.
Whether or not the deal goes through, Gollini’s short time at Villa, for now at least, seems all but over.
