Aston Villa have missed out on the signing of Jeffrey Schlupp, who looks set to join Crystal Palace within the next 24 hours.
Reports coming from the Telegraph state that Sam Allardyce and Crystal Palace have won the race to sign the defender for £12 million, who was widely expected to leave the club this month.
Palace, Aston Villa and West Brom were all thought to be interested in the Premier League winner, who has failed to break into Leicester City’s starting XI over the last two seasons.

Villa were reportedly interested in the player but were clearly unable to convince him to drop down to the Championship as they seek promotion back to the Premier League.
Schlupp had reportedly made his intentions to leave the King Power Stadium very clear to manager Claudio Ranieri, who often preferred Austrian Christian Fuchs at left-back.
The Ghanian has only made four Premier League appearances this season as Leicester struggle to mount a title defence.
