Villa leading the race for Bury starlet Jacob Bedeau
Aston Villa are leading the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City in the race to sign highly-rated Bury defender Jacob Bedeau this month, according to the Bury Times.
Steve Bruce appears to have his eye on bringing in young talent to the club this month and Bedeau is a player who has impressed in the lower divisions who could make the step up.
The 17-year-old made his professional debut as a half-time substitute against Millwall back in November and after impressing in his first 45 minutes, he started the next six League One games for Bury.
It’s understood he’s caught the eye of both Manchester clubs but Villa have opened talks with Bury and have launched a substantial bid for the defender this month, but an agreement is yet to be reached.
Bury chairman Stewart Day is holding out for a seven-figure fee to let go of their talented youngster, in addition to some sizeable add-ons and sell-on clauses.
27 clubs were present at Gigg Lane scouting during Bury’s 5-1 drubbing of Peterborough last week but unfortunately for those in attendance, Bedeau did not feature.
