Aston Villa travel away to face relegation-threatened Wigan Athletic as they look for a strong end to the season.

Any promotion hopes for Villa are almost certainly quashed with Steve Bruce’s men sitting 14 points off the play-off places with only nine matches left to play.

They come against a Wigan side battling for their lives as they are only five points from safety – lying 23rd in the Championship table.

It was a Villa win in the reverse fixture in December. Jack Grealish’s 88th-minute winner at Villa Park secured all three points for the home side that day.

That win pushed Villa up to 12th in the table, whey they still sit for the clash with Wigan this weekend.

Bruce looks set to be without Nathan Baker, who has been struggling with an injury. This means summer signing Tommy Elphick could be given a chance to shine.
