The Birmingham Mail have reported that Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia will serve a one match ban following his dismissal against Fulham on Monday afternoon.

The Ivorian striker was dismissed after he appeared to kick out at Fredericks during a tussle in the 22nd minute. Steve Bruce argued after the match that the Fulham defender was no innocent party in the incident, but he admitted that Kodjia was petulant.

Villa appealed the decision earlier on Wednesday and were not expecting to hear back from the Football Association until some time on Thursday, but they have been handed the timely boost already.

This means that Kodjia will miss the big derby match against Birmingham on Sunday, but he will be available for the last two matches of the season against Blackburn and Brighton, which will increase the chance of winning odds for Aston Villa.

This gives Kodjia two games to score his 20th league goal of the season, and become the first Villa player to manage this feat since Peter Withe achieved it in 1981.
