Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi is likely to move away from Villa Park this summer as the club have placed him on the transfer list, according to the Birmingham Mail.
The left-sided defender is understood to want to move away from the Championship club as he has ambitions of playing in the Premier League or in a top European league.
The 23-year-old wants to move following Villa’s unsuccessful season in the Championship where they failed to make the play-offs. He made 36 appearances in all competitions for Villa last season,n only managing one assist as the club finished 13th in the table.
Amavi told French news outlet the Nice-Matin: “We spoke with Aston Villa, if I have to leave, there will be no problem.
“I have ambitions. I want to play in Europe, for a club that play in all the competitions. I’ve been placed on the transfer list.”
The French international defender cost Villa £9m from Ligue 1 club Nice and various clubs have made unofficial inquiries about the availability of the player.
Amavi has been linked with Premier League giants Liverpool, who have been on the hunt for a left-back for some time and Amavi would be open to the move.
Atletico Madrid have also been monitoring Amavi but their transfer ban preventing them from registering new players has more or less ended their interest.
