The latest news on Christopher Samba
According to a report in the Birmingham Mail, Christopher Samba will once again join Villa for pre-season training in July as he continues his attempt to earn a contract.
The defender initially started training with the club back in February, and made an appearance for the under-23s in a win against Wolves in March.
Towards the end of last season, Steve Bruce was hopeful that Samba would return for pre-season training to see how things progress. The Congo international is one of a number of options available to Bruce as the boss continues his search for a new central defender to compete with Baker and Chester.
Villa have already tabled a bid for Chelsea legend John Terry, and hope to beat Birmingham to his signature.
However, interest in Terry hasn’t deterred Samba, who took part in one of the club’s fitness sessions earlier today ahead of the players’ return to pre-season training next month.
