Saint-Etienne boss attempts to lure Veretout back
Ligue 1 club AS Saint-Etienne’s manager Oscar Garcia has rang Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout in an attempt to convince him to join the French side this summer, according to a report on Sport Witness.
The 24-year-old midfielder has been subject to interest from various teams this summer but Saint Etienne have always been in pole position to sign the player.
However, Villa boss Steve Bruce looks like he wants Veretout to stay after he called him into the first team training sessions during pre-season and also gave him playing time during their matches against Shrewsbury Town and Telford United recently.
The phone call to Veretout hasn’t convinced the midfielder to join the French side but he is thought to be assessing his options this week and will make a decision on his future soon.
Despite the numerous clubs interested, none of them have submitted a bid which meets the valuation that Aston Villa have for Veretout and the club will only sell him for the right price.
Should a team meet the asking price then Villa will not stand in the way of the transfer as Bruce has a lot of depth in his midfield.
Should no team meet the asking price, then Bruce is more than happy to keep Veretout as he looks to secure promotion to the Premier League.
