As usual, games come thick and fast for Championship teams, and Villa will play their third match in seven days when they head to Wales to play Cardiff on Saturday afternoon.

Villa started off their 2017/18 campaign with a 1-1 draw against Hull, but they will know that they really should have walked away from that game with all three points to their name. With the performance they put in during the first 45 minutes, they should have been out of sight by the time the referee blew for half-time. However, it was not be, and Hull managed to sneak a point.

Then on Wednesday evening, Villa had to travel down to Essex to play Colchester in the Carabao Cup. On an awful night at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, Villa came away 2-1 winners against a dogged and determined Colchester side.

Bruce made a lot of changes for Wednesday’s match, and he is likely to make a lot more for Saturday’s clash with Cardiff.
