Villa make ambitious move to sign Jack Wilshere
Aston Villa have made an enquiry about the availability of Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere, according to a report from John Cross of the Mirror.
Wilshere, who spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, is currently playing with the Arsenal U23 side as he looks to force his way back into the reckoning at the Emirates as he is keen to stay at the club.
However, opportunities look limited for the England star and with no clubs yet to meet the Gunners’ valuation of him, there is still a chance he could go out on loan.
Arsenal would prefer to sell the 25-year-old as he is likely to become a free agent at the end of the season, so it makes sense for them to cash in now. However, with very few actual bids coming in, a loan move to get him off the wage bill could be in play.
According to the report, numerous clubs have enquired about taking the midfielder on loan but Steve Bruce’s strong relationship with Arsenal and Arsene Wenger could give him an advantage if Wilshere decides that he’s happy to step down a division in order to get regular first-team football.
