Villa got back to winning ways after a comfortable 3-0 victory against Barnsley on Saturday evening.
The game started off in slow fashion with both sides cancelling each other out, but the breakthrough was made in the 20th minute when Barnsley’s keeper failed to deal with a hopeful punt forward, leaving the alert Albert Adomah to slide the ball into an empty net.
Villa started to apply the pressure and after Keinan Davis was adjudged to have been fouled in the box by Jackson, a penalty was swiftly awarded and Adomah doubled his tally for the night.
Barnsley started the second half brightly, but it was Villa who extended their lead in the 55th minute when Davis, who terrorized the Barnsley defence all game, converted a fantastic cross from Ahmed Elmohamady.
Villa looked to extend their lead and Jackson was lucky not to concede two more penalties when the ball struck his hand twice in the box.
Barnsley could have got a consolation goal late on, but Ugbo failed to hit the target when one-on-one with Sam Johnstone in the 87th minute.
