Aston Villa outcast Ross McCormack is in talks with Australian side Melbourne City over a potential loan move away from the club.

The Express and Star report that the Scottish striker is wanted down under as he fails to make an impact at Villa Park under Steve Bruce.

The former Fulham man has featured just twice for Villa this season and despite being linked with several moves over the summer, he was unable to complete a move away from the club.

Sunderland were heavily linked with a loan move for the striker but were unable to agree a deal with Villa for the unwanted striker.

McCormack fell out of favour at Villa Park last season when he failed to turn up to training.

The striker, who joined the club for £12 million following their relegation from the Premier League, spent the second half of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest.
