Aston Villa earned another 3 vital points as they dismantled Burton Albion 4-0 at the Pirelli Stadium on Tuesday night.
Burton made the brighter start and were putting the Villa defense under a bit of pressure in the first 10 minutes of the game, but Villa made the breakthrough in the 13th minute when Davis headed in Elmohamady’s teasing cross.
Villa doubled their lead a mere three minutes later when Snodgrass, after some neat build-up play, played the ball through to Adomah, who made no mistake with the finish.
Villa made it 3-0 in the 32nd minute when a poor defensive header fell to Snodgrass on the edge of the box and he struck a neat half-volley into the bottom corner of the net. The game was virtually over at half-time.
After the break, Villa sat back a bit and allowed Burton to have more of the possession, but despite this possession, they didn’t trouble Johnstone until the 67th minute. Four minutes later, Villa added their fourth when a swift counter-attack ended with Onomah slotting home just moments after coming on off the bench.
Villa saw out the game without much alarm and headed back to Birmingham content with their night’s work.
