Aston Villa got their fourth win in a row as they saw off lowly Bolton 1-0 at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.

Jonathan Kodjia scored the only goal of the match from the penalty spot after he was brought down by Mark Beevers in the 39th minute. He then had the chance to double Villa’s lead, but he headed over the bar.

Bolton had a great chance to take a point away from Villa Park, but Glenn Whelan was in the right place at the right time to clear the ball off the line.

Villa had Neil Taylor sent off in the 94th minute, but it was too late for Bolton to take advantage of, and they ended up succumbing to their 9th league loss in a row.

The victory moves Villa up to 7th in the league, just one point outside the play-off places and just four points off automatic promotion.
