Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, who is on loan at Championship side Aston Villa, is willing to make a permanent move to Villa Park when his Old Trafford contract expires at the end of the season, according to a report on the Express.

Johnstone is on a season long loan at Villa and United don’t want to lose him for free at the end of the season so are likely to activate a further year on his contract and then sell him for approximately £5m.

Villa boss Steve Bruce is a huge admirer of Johnstone and has revealed that the club will d everything they can to sign the shot-stopper on a permanent basis.

Johnstone has never made a senior appearance for United and with the goalkeepers already at Old Trafford, it is unlikely that he will ever make a breakthrough at the club.

Bruce believes that Johnstone is better off moving to Villa permanently so he can focus on his career and try to help Villa achieve success in the next couple of years.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper has also had loan spells at Preston North End and Oldham Athletic but he is keen to settle at one club instead of changing nearly every season.
