Aston Villa moved up to fourth in the table thanks to a 2-1 victory over Sunderland on Tuesday evening.
If we’re being honest, it wasn’t the best of performances from Villa, but Bruce and the players won’t be too fussed about that as three points is all that really matters.
Next up for Villa is a home match against Ipswich on Saturday afternoon, and another win, couple with some favourable results elsewhere, could see Villa move to within just two points of automatic promotion.
The Tractor Boys have been having a pretty decent season so far, and they currently sit in ninth place with 26 points from their opening seventeen matches. A lot better than many predicted.
Villa have a striker shortage at the moment with only Keinan Davis being fit, so Bruce will have to decide whether to risk burning out Davis, or
Here’s our predicted Villa XI for Saturday’s match against Ipswich.
GK: Sam Johnstone
One of the first names on the team sheet.
RB: Alan Hutton
Hutton has been playing very well lately, and it would be harsh to drop him.
CB: James Chester
With Terry injured, it’s vital that Chester plays as often as he can.
CB: Christopher Samba
Has replaced Terry, and hasn’t done too bad a job. With Villa’s lack of CBs, it would be surprising if Samba doesn’t start.
LB: Neil Taylor
Had a pretty poor game against Sunderland, but we still expect Taylor to start on Saturday.
RM: Robert Snodgrass
Has been very good for Villa since he joined on loan, and he will certainly start against Ipswich on Saturday.
CM: Mile Jedinak
Glenn Whelan has been doing a job for Villa, but we reckon that Bruce will start Jedinak this weekend.
CM: Conor Hourihane
Also had a poor game on Tuesday evening, but Bruce won’t drop such a creative player unless he really has to.
CM: Josh Onomah
Put in another pretty decent showing on Tuesday and capped it off with a goal. Should be starting on Saturday!
LM: Albert Adomah
Adomah has had a fantastic season so far, and is definitely one of the first names on the team sheet.
ST: Keinan Davis
Villa’s only available striker, so he will most likely be starting this one.
