Aston Villa drew 1-1 with Leeds on Friday evening, picking up what could turn out to be a very valuable point for them come the end of the season.

The Villa players will be the first to admit that they had a poor first half, and they were perhaps lucky to go in at the break just trailing by a solitary Pontus Jansson goal.

Steve Bruce must have given his players the proverbial hairdryer treatment during the half-time interval, as they put in a much improved performance in the second half. With 20 minutes left on the clock, the ball fell to substitute Henri Lansbury just outside the box and he drilled the ball in off the post.

Villa probably could have snatched all three points in the end, but given Leeds’ dominance in the first 45 minutes, and Villa’s in the second, many would agree that a draw was a fair result.
