Aston Villa earned another valuable point last Friday as they salvaged a creditable draw against Leeds thanks to Henri Lansbury’s first goal for the club.
This point leaves them in fifth place in the table on thirty-six points, four points above Ipswich who sit just outside the play-off places and seven points adrift of automatic promotion.
Next up for Villa is a home match against Millwall, who are currently sitting in seventeenth place, six points above the relegation zone.
Many people will be expecting Villa to brush Millwall aside on Saturday afternoon, but they have proven over the season that they can be very difficult to break down and defeat.
They are likely to play with XI men behind the ball and hope to hit Villa on the counter, so it is unlikely to be a very high scoring game. Villa will have to be patient and hope that their play-makers don’t have an off day.
Here is our predicted Villa XI for Saturday’s match against Millwall.
GK: Sam Johnstone
Villa’s number one, and probably the first name on the team sheet.
RB: Alan Hutton
Has been in fine form since he returned to the side and it’s likely he will keep his place for Saturday’s game.
CB: James Chester
Has been a complete rock in defense this season and has marshalled his troops well in Terry’s absence. Will definitely be starting.
CB: Christopher Samba
With Jedinak injured still, it will fall upon Samba to help Chester in the middle of the defense.
LB: Neil Taylor
Has barely put a foot wrong since he joined Villa, and it would be a surprise to see him left out on Saturday.
RM: Robert Snodgrass
Snodgrass has added another dimension to Villa’s attack, and we guarantee he will be starting on Saturday afternoon.
CM: Glenn Whelan
Had a very poor start to the season, but he has improved slightly and will certainly be starting against Millwall.
CM: Conor Hourihane
Millwall will probably sit back and look to play on the counter, so Bruce will be looking to Hourihane to produce some magic to unlock their packed defence.
CM: Henri Lansbury
Scored his first goal for the club to earn a point against Leeds, and we reckon he will be rewarded with a start on Saturday.
LM: Albert Adomah
With the goal-scoring form he has been in lately, there’s no way he’s sitting out of this one.
ST: Keinan Davis
With all the injuries Villa have in the striker department, Davis will be tasked with leading the line again.
