According to BBC Sport, Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has quashed speculation that Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone will move to rivals West Brom this month.

Johnstone, who has kept 11 clean sheets in 26 matches this season, has been attracting plenty of attention, and according to reports over the last 24 hours, he is set to cut short his loan deal at Villa and head across to the Hawthorns in a deal worth around £4 million.

However, Bruce says that he has had talks with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho this week, and no such deal was ever mentioned.

To add to this, Villa owner Tony Xia took to Twitter to ensure Villa’s loyal fans that Johnstone will not be leaving Villa park the January transfer window. In fact, he even went as far as to suggest that he could yet sign a permanent move to the club in the summer if Villa get promoted.
