Aston Villa made it five wins from their last five league games thanks to a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Tuesday evening.
It was a pretty average performance from Villa, but no one with a claret and blue persuasion will care as it was a win that moved them up third in the table, just a solitary point behind Derby, who could only muster a draw away to Millwall.
Next up for Villa is a home match against Burton Albion, who are currently propping up the table with just 24 points from twenty-nine matches. Over the course of the season, they have scored just 22 goals and conceded a whopping 55 – four of which came against Villa back in September.
With the form Villa are in at the moment, they will see anything other than another three points on Saturday afternoon as a failure.
Here’s our predicted Villa XI for the game against Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon:
GK: Sam Johnstone
Has been absolutely immense for Villa this season and is one of the first names on the teamsheet!
RB: Ahmed Elmohamady
Has made the right back position his own in recent weeks, and he should be starting again on Saturday afternoon.
CB: James Chester
Has played every single league game for Villa this season and has never let his team down. We don’t expect this to change on Saturday.
CB: John Terry
Terry has shown that he still has it, and as club captain there’s no way he won’t be starting this one.
LB: Alan Hutton
Despite being told that this will be his last season at Villa Park, Bruce will continue to play him as he has been solid and always gives his all to the cause.
RM: Robert Snodgrass
Snodgrass has scored 4 goals and provided 3 assists in the last 7 games, so there’s just no way he’ll be benched against Burton.
CM: Birkir Bjarnason
With Jedinak and Whelan likely to be out injured still, Bjarnason will be tasked once again with doing the dirty work in midfield.
CM: Conor Hourihane
Had a poor game against Sheffield United on Tuesday, but we don’t see him being dropped for this one.
CM: Jack Grealish
Ever since he came back into the team, Grealish has been very good. As a result of this form, he will be rewarded with another start on Saturday afternoon.
LM: Albert Adomah
Has gone off the boil a bit too in recent games, but we reckon Bruce will give him ample opportunity to find his form again.
ST: Scott Hogan
Didn’t have the best of games on Tuesday either, but he has been in decent scoring form of late, so he should get another start on Saturday.
