Aston Villa Director of Football Steve Round claims that John Terry would be happy to continue with the club next season if they are promoted to the Premier League.
Terry joined the Villans last summer, having left Chelsea after almost 19 years with the club when his contract expired. Terry reportedly rejected dozens of domestic and overseas opportunities, electing to join Steve Bruce’s side.
Despite missing two months over the Christmas period after breaking his fifth metatarsal, the former Chelsea captain has managed 29 appearances this season and is already a fan favourite at Villa Park.

Despite this, mounting speculation has suggested that Terry would look to hang up his boots at the end of the season and likely return to Chelsea in a coaching capacity. However, Round told fans at last week’s Supporters’ Trust meeting, according to the Birmingham Mail, that the 37-year old had ‘indicated’ he would want to stay on.
Round would add that Terry is an inspiration figure at Bodymoor Heath, constantly pushing younger players to climb the ranks, and is the ‘ultimate pro’.
However, Terry’s future appears to still hinge on whether Villa can clinch promotion this season. Under Financial Fair Play guidelines, Terry would certainly need to cut down on his current £70,000-a-week wage if the Villa Park outfit couldn’t return to the top flight this campaign.
