Aston Villa are reportedly considering a summer swoop for Southampton striker Charlie Austin.
The Saints forward leads the way as his club’s top goal scorer for the season, with six to his name. However, with Mark Hughes’ side facing relegation to the Championship, Villa are named by the Mirror as a potential destination for Austin.
Steve Bruce’s men have mounted a promotion charge this season and should they secure promotion back to the Premier League, it seems Austin could be a target.

Austin is a proven goal scorer in the top flight but has been forced to contend with a number of injury woes throughout the course of his playing career.
Villa are already well stocked in the attacking areas but could look towards tried and tested quality ahead of next season, with Austin potentially available in the event that Saints do indeed succumb to relegation.
However, the Villains will need to fend off competition from Bournemouth and Leicester for the striker, if the Mirror are to be believed.
