Aston Villa guaranteed themselves a at least a play-off place thanks to their 1-0 win over Leeds last Friday.
There’s still a very slim chance that they could sneak automatic promotion, but this would require them to win their remaining three matches and hope that Cardiff and Fulham somehow mess up drastically.
However, with the form that both these two teams are in at the moment, the majority of Villa fans will already be preparing themselves for the stress that is due to come during the play-offs.
Villa play Ipswich at Portman Road on Saturday afternoon and they will be quietly confident about picking up another 3 points to add to the 79 that they have already amassed.
Ipswich have had a decent season, but they have nothing left to play for now and they might already be thinking about their summer holidays.
Here’s our predicted Villa XI for Saturday’s match away to Ipswich.
GK: Sam Johnstone
One of the first names on Bruce’s teamsheet.
RB: Ahmed Elmohamady
With Hutton and Tuanzebe injured, Elmohamady will almost certainly start at right back.
CB: James Chester
Has had a fantastic season for Villa and will certainly be starting on Saturday afternoon.
CB: John Terry
Terry has missed the last few games but he is back in training now and we expect him to be starting.
LB: Neil Taylor
With Hutton injured still, we expect Taylor to be starting at left-back.
RM: Robert Snodgrass
Snodgrass hasn’t been playing his best lately, but Bruce will be hoping he can cause havoc with his set-pieces.
CM: Glenn Whelan
Whelan has played well in the last few games and we expect him to keep his place in the center of the field.
CM: Josh Onomah
Onomah has been inconsistent this season, but with a play-off place assured, we think Bruce will give him another chance to impress.
CM: Jack Grealish
Grealish has been one of Villa’s best players of late, and we’d be surprised if he didn’t start.
LM: Albert Adomah
We reckon Bruce will start Adomah on Saturday and then give him a rest for the remaining matches, so he’s fresh for the play-offs.
ST: Lewis Grabban
With Kodjia injured again, we expect to see Grabban leading the line.
