# Spurs Propose Swap Deal for Benteke

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly offered Aston Villa, Emmanuel Adebayor and cash for the services of Belgian international, Christian Benteke.

Tim Sherwood admitted in May that Benteke had a £32.5 million buyout clause at the Midlands side, this putting many clubs on alert. It is believed Villa would not take any less for Benteke after recent comments by Villa Chief Executive, Tom Fox to the media about the fee.

The swap deal could be enticing for Sherwood though, who famously got Adebayor firing on all cylinders at Spurs during his spell as interim manager. Under Sherwood in 2013/14, the Togolese striker scored 14 goals in just 25 games for Spurs.

The Togolese international does not come without controversy and cost though. Currently, Adebayor is believed to be on £170k a week at Spurs which would be nowhere near the wage Villa would offer him. Furthermore, the 31-year old has blamed witchcraft on his sustained poor form, and has gone on leave on many occasions back to his native country.
