# Villa Linked with Another Striker

Aston Villa have gone toe-to-toe with local rivals, West Bromwich Albion for Blackburn Rovers, £6-million rated, Rudy Gestede.

Gestede, 26, had a superb season in front of goal last season hitting 20 goals in 39 games – partnering in-demand striker Jordan Rhodes up front.*\*

Betting has been suspended today on where Gestede will be playing his football this season.*\*

Aston Villa finished as the lowest scorers in the Premier League last season along with Sunderland and with the loss of Christian Benteke to Liverpool this summer a big void has been left.

The Villans are understood to be closing in on a deal for Spurs striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, who has became an outcast at White Hart Lane.

Reports from Simon Edwards yesterday suggested a deal for the former-Manchester United player, Dimiar Berbatov was also on the cards.

It is clear a target man is being looked at as Villa look to rebuild with the losses of two key players this summer in Fabian Delph and Christian Benteke along with a mass exodus of players
