# Villa Chase Monaco Defender

Aston Villa have reportedly offered personal terms to Monaco defender, Aymen Abdennour. [Duncan Castles in the Sunday Times](https://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/sport/football/article1597163.ece) suggests that Premier League rivals, Newcastle United have also offered terms to the Tunisian international who is valued by Monaco at £18-million.

The left-sided centre-back has created a reputation on his steely performances in the heart of Monaco’s defence – playing a vital role in the Monaco side that knocked Arsenal out of the Champions League last season.

The reported move for Abdennour comes on the same day that [the Star on Sunday’s Paul Hetherington](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/460673/Exclusive-Aston-Villa-close-in-West-Brom-Joleon-Lescott) has suggested West Brom are set to let Joleon Lescott join Villa for only £2.5-million.

Castles writes that the 28-year old would prefer a move to the Premier League despite interest from Serie A outfit, AC Milan.

Abdennour was originially in talks with the European Champions, Barcelona only for the Catalonian side to pull the plug on the deal late on.
