# Joe Cole set for Championship move

[Gregg Evans from the Birmingham Mail](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-transfer-news-joe-10166785)is reporting that Aston Villa midfielder, Joe Cole is still deciding on whether he wants to move to the Championship in order to get more minutes under his belt.

The experienced Englishman has not played a single minute for Aston Villa in the Premier League and at his age, will not want to continue sitting on the bench till he retires, meaning a loan could benefit him greatly.

Cole is currently taking his coaching badges in an attempt to continue a career in football after he retires, off the pitch. However, before that time comes, he wants to get as much playing time as possible and feels a loan move would be most beneficial to the midfielder.

His only game time this campaign was a brief cameo appearance against Notts County as Aston Villa saw off their opponents in the Capital One Cup 5-3.

His contract expires next summer and if things don’t pan out well for him this season, he may even consider retirement to focus on his coaching badges.
