# Poyet On The Shortlist

Aston Villa are searching for a new manager and the media is rife with rumours over potential candidates to replace Tim Sherwood. [John Cross from the Daily Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/aston-villa-hold-talks-remi-6704338) has reported that Guy Poyet features on a shortlist of managers drawn up by Tom Fox, Randy Lerner and the Director of Football, Hendrik Almstadt.

Poyet has been out of work since being sacked by Sunderland last season, but could be offered a route back into the game soon with [reports also suggesting](https://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/sport/football/sunderland-afc/sunderland-ex-manager-gus-poyet-wanted-by-aek-athens-1-7533800)that Poyet is close to taking over at Greek side, AEK Athens.

### Not Poyet Please – the view of Matt lynch

Please not Poyet. I beg for it not to be the former-Brighton manager. It is the sort of links Villa fans dread hearing. It may be just a lazy rumour, but to me Poyet is worse than Sherwood. His style of play is bland and he flopped sensationally at Sunderland.
