# The Return of Fabian Delph

Manchester City face Aston Villa on Sunday, and one of the many talking points ahead of the big match, is the return of former Villan, Fabian Delph.

The England international may not be expecting the warmest receptions when he walks out at Villa Park at the weekend, after what many fans will call, a ‘betrayal’ to Aston Villa, after doing a complete U-turn and changing his mind over the decision to leave Villa for Manchester City.

The former Villa captain will face his old side at Villa Park for the first time on Sunday, and after a frustrating start at City with injuries, the game actually may host the return for his full Manchester City debut.

Although, some Villa fans may respect the fact that a top player like Delph was always going to move onto a bigger club, because of the huge driving force he was in the midfield at Villa. Villa fans saw him as a key player who played immensely well over the last two seasons for their side, and was named the fans player of the year last season too, that is probably why the Villa faithful are so frustrated, because such a key man to their side decided to mess the club around, and eventually move on.

Personally, I would have understood the sense in Delph leaving for a bigger club, but for first-team football. However, at Man City he has yet to play consistently because of his injury, but I still believe he will not get that much action into the first team, with the likes of Yaya Toure, Fernandinho and Fernando in the defensive midfield position.

Although, I see Delph as a more attacking midfielder – I can’t see him competing to get into the eleven against Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva either. If Delph can’t seem to gain first-team football within the next season, it will result in a poor career move, and his hopes of sealing a place in the England side, will also fade away.
