# Villa to launch January Austin move

Aston Villa are set to launch an £8-million move for QPR striker, Charlie Austin in a bid to spark their fight against the threat of relegation from the Premier League.

[Harry Pratt from the Star on Sunday](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/483617/Charlie-Austin-Exclusive-Aston-Villa-Remi-Garde-Premier-League-QPR-Championship-January) reports how the forward, who is out of contract in the summer, is one of Villa’s top January targets as they look to find a striker capable of scoring goals in the Premier League to kickstart their campaign.

The report suggests Sunderland, Newcastle and West Brom are also keeping tabs on the former-Burnley man who Villa are watching alongside Peter Crouch and Gokhan Inler of Leicester.

Get him in ASAP – Matt Lynch

A move for Charlie Austin would give Villa a lot higher chance of survival with Austin a proven scorer in the Premier League. He has had a stop-start campaign so far this season due to injuries but he is 100% worth the risk given Villa’s current plight.

He has found the net 10 times in 16 appearances so far this season.
