# Villa look at Lorient forward

Aston Villa have launched a move for the Lorient forward, Benjamin Moukandjo. The news comes after Claudio Beauvue was not attracted by a move to the Premier League basement side.

[L ‘Equipe](https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Transferts-aston-villa-pense-a-moukandjo/622051) in France report how Villa have made contact with the French Ligue 1 side for the Cameroon international as they search to add extra firepower to their side.

Moukandjo was Jordan Ayew’s replacement at Lorient and he has been in good form finding the net 11 times in 15 appearances so far this season. It is proving to be his most prolific season to date in the French top division.

It is believed Lorient are not willing to sell the forward in this window, but Villa are in desperate need of a striker.

He is also a Cameroonian international representing the African country 28 times scoring 11 goals.

The move for Moukandjo reflects a change in strategy for Remi Garde who suggested he would not be signing French league players in the window.
