# Villa begin the search for a new manager

Villa are beginning to compile a list of potential managers to take over at Villa Park, according to the [Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/04/10/aston-villa-begin-compiling-managerial-targets-as-they-prepare-f/).

The Telegraph reports that the football board, which is made up of David Bernstein, Sir Mervyn King, Brian Little and Adrian Bevington, are beginning to look at potential replacements for Remi Garde who was sacked at the end of March.

Garde, who himself was only appointed in November after the sacking of Tim Sherwood, was sacked after he guided Villa to two league wins which left Villa in 20th place, just as they had been when he had taken over.

Among the front runners for the job is David Moyes, who has been out of work for six months after he was sacked by Real Sociedad due to failing to meet expectations. The ex-Everton manager is seen by many to be the perfect candidate, with his years of experience with Everton being something not many other potential candidates could match. However, it is unlikely that Moyes could be persuaded to join a side in the Championship.

Another front-runner for the job is Nigel Pearson, who after guiding Leicester to survival last season after a stunning run of form towards the end of campaign, was sacked and has been out of work since.

With Villa’s relegation to the Championship set to be confirmed at Old Trafford on Saturday, the Telegraph report that Villa would like to confirm the appointment of a new manager before the end of the season, in order for the new manager to run the rule over the squad before Villa rebuild in the summer.

Who would you like to see as Villa’s next manager?
