# Ex-Leciester boss could well say no to Villa job

Former Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson could well turn down the chance to manage Aston Villa if he is offered the vacant managerial job at B6.

[Dave Armitage writes for the Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/517709/Nigel-Pearson-Aston-Villa-management-hunt) how that Nigel Pearson was third choice for potential new owner Dr Tony Xia who first made contact with Roberto Di Matteo who he was put off by after it emerged he had entered talks with Serie A giants Lazio.

Late last week Xia’s representatives held talks with David Moyes only for the ex-Manchester United manager to rule himself out of the running for the job according to the BBC.

Pearson had been the firm favourite for the job for many weeks before takeover news emerged. It has been reported for sometime now that Nigel Pearson was the favourite of Steve Hollis, only for an announcement to be put on hold after the takeover was announced last week.

This story does seem quite an easy one for a newspaper to write. It is putting two and two together but the mood at Villa Park certainly seems to be that Nigel Pearson isn’t the preferred option for many fans.
