# Another key man leaves Aston Villa

Another key man of the former Aston Villa regime is believed to have left the club according to reports.

[The Birmingham Mail](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-news-charlie-wijeratna-11452633) say the Villans chief commercial officer Charlie Wijeratna is believed to have left the club as he follows the likes of Tom Fox out of the club.

As chief commercial officer, Wijeratna was in charge of the marketing and media teams at Villa Park as well as attempting to attract the best sponsorship deals for the Midlands club.

The former Spurs director was said to have been instrumental in the believed new kit sponsorship deal with Under Armour.

He is believed to have been one of the highest paid members of staff at the club. In recent weeks, many staff have left the club as part of widespread redundancies at B6.

Henrick Almstadt was another big name to leave to leave the club after last season’s disastrous campaign.

Does Charlie Wijeratna leaving suggest the takeover is close? Or is it just part of the restructuring already planned by Steve Hollis?
