# Celtic make enquiry for Villa forward

Celtic have made an enquiry to Aston Villa regarding the availability of forward Scott Sinclair, but, contrary to some less-then-reputable reports, they are yet to make a bid to sign him.

According to Gregg Evans of the [Birmingham Mail](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/update-scott-sinclairs-aston-villa-11509605), new Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is a fan of the 27-year-old having worked with him at Swansea City and whilst Celtic have asked Villa about his availability, they have not made the £2million bid which other sources had reported.

Roberto Di Matteo is yet to decide if he’ll sell Sinclair as, despite his lack of goals in recent seasons, he does have a history of scoring in the Championship and Villa will be desperate for a goalscorer to help them get promoted at the first time of asking.

If Villa do sell Sinclair, they’ll be looking for more than £2million anyway, so Celtic will need to be bidding more than the erroneous reports suggest that they have.
