# Marseille close in on move for Sanchez

Carlos Sanchez is closing in on a move to French Ligue 1 side Marseille from Aston Villa according to reports in France.

[La Provence](https://www.laprovence.com/actu/en-direct/4032450/mercato-lom-veut-carlos-sanchez.html) say that talks are still on going between the two clubs over the possible transfer of the Colombian international for around €2 million.

The 30 year old joined Villa from La Liga side Elche in 2014 and has gone on to make 48 appearances at the Midlands side in the league.

Sanchez, who is nicknamed the Rock, has often struggled for consistent game time at Villa Park with multiple managers at the helm and injuries plaguing him as well.

His time in a Colombia shirt though has often been the reason why he is nicknamed ‘La Roca’ in his homeland not his performances in an Aston Villa shirt.

If Sanchez is to leave it would be the first departure for a fee under new manager Roberto Di Matteo.

Marseille have already attempted to lure midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye away from the Villans.
