# Carlos Sanchez attracts European interest

Aston Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez is attracting interest from the continent with Italian side Fiorentina rumoured to have an interest in him.

[Gianluca Di Marzio](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/eng/fiorentina-interest-in-carlos-sanchez-new-contacts-with-benfica-for-lisandro-lopez/) reports that the Serie A side have already been in talks with Villa over making a move for Sanchez, who joined the Midlands side from Elche in 2014.

He has never truly settled as an Aston Villa player though and has only made 48 appearances in a claret and blue shirt.

It was reported before that Sanchez was closing in on a move to France with Marseille close to a deal only for that deal to go cold.

The 30 year old is nicknamed ‘La Roca’ back in his homeland for his robust performances in the heart of Colombia’s midfielder, but the Aston Villa faithful haven’t seen enough of that when on club duty.

It would be the fourth departure at Aston Villa this summer with Jose Angel Crespo and Brad Guzan already gone with Idrissa Gana Gueye expected to complete a move to Everton today.
