Aston Villa take on Sheffield Wednesday later today and we decided to hunt out an Owls fan ahead of the clash to see how they feel ahead of the new season.
Thank you to Ben Warner from Transfer News Central for speaking to us.
1. How much will last seasons play off heartache affect your start to the season?
If we’re being honest (and I hope I’m right) it shouldn’t do at all. Yeah, that day at the end of May was horrifically disappointing, but it was a case of running out of steam in a long campaign, and at the beginning of the year a play-off defeat was more than we could’ve hoped for. We’re just hoping it’ll be better this year.
2. Recruited well this summer, who is the main man to watch?
Probably Almen Abdi, who the Watford fans I know have given very good reviews of. If he’s anything like as good as Fernando Forestieri, we’ve got a great signing on our hands, although I wouldn’t completely rule out Steven Fletcher from taking the spotlight.

3. How has your pre season gone?
It’s gone about as well as you could’ve hoped, bar the draw at Alfreton right at the start of the pre-season. We’ve won every game since then, including one against Benfica at Hillsborough, although by all accounts they didn’t put out a very strong team. Positively, we’ve scored 11 in the five friendlies and are yet to concede one.
4. Where do you see your season going this time around?
If we get off to a good start, I wouldn’t be surprised to see us challenging for second (Newcastle probably have first already tied up), but I think most are expecting a play-off place again, hopefully higher than sixth.
5. What is the line up we should expect?
Westwood, Hunt, Hutchinson, Lees, Pudil, Abdi, Bannan, Lee, Forestieri, Hooper, and Forestieri.

6. What’s your top 6 come May?
Newcastle, Norwich, Wednesday, Brighton, Derby, and QPR. Sorry lads.
7. What can Villa fans expect at Hillsborough food/drink etc?
If it’s anything like the home end, there’ll be pies, crisps, chocolate, all that. I don’t often have the drinks from there but there’s beer, wine, the regular soft drinks, whatever you’d expect. I’d recommend having a pie, peas and gravy.

8. Opposition player you admire most.
Having signed him in time, I’d have to say Ross McCormack. Always a danger at this level and you don’t command that price in the Championship unless you’ve got a fair bit about you. We’ll have to keep a handle on him.
9. Prediction.
2-1 Sheffield Wednesday.
