Aston Villa should sign this Arsenal man

Aston Villa are lacking a bit of depth across the pitch after a summer clear out especially in the wider positions.

One man that I admire is Arsenal’s Serge Gnabry. It may be a far fetched idea of getting the Arsenal man to Villa Park on loan, but it could well be plausible.

Roberto Di Matteo is reportedly in the market to bring a few faces in on loan alongside any other permanent business he may do and Gnabry could fit the bill.

The German has lit up the Olympics for his nation putting in a string of good performances and Arsene Wenger has said that he wants to keep the winger at the Gunners and offer him a new deal.

I want to keep Serge Gnabry and extend his contract.

Despite Gnabry’s stock rising dramatically after his showing in Rio, he struggled on his most recent loan spell at West Bromwich Albion.

I doubt that Wenger will have Gnabry in his first team contentions this season with a wealth of talent in the wide/attacking midfield area at the North London side, but he could well let him leave on loan.

His confidence was shot whilst at the Baggies, but that is bound to have returned now he has scored on six occasions in Rio.

Perhaps Gnabry could get Premier League football at somewhere like Burnley or Hull City on loan, but to me a more logical move could be Aston Villa.

Roberto Di Matteo likes to play with his quick wingers and a big man up top seemingly. Gnabry would suit that style of play. Furthermore, confidence wise, realistically he will be on the winning side far more in a Villa promotion hunting side over relegation Premier League candidates.

He is quite capable of playing across the three of either centre attacking midfielder, left winger or right winger. His natural skill and agility is something that needs senior game time.

Gnabry constantly proves his ability in the Arsenal reserves and on the youth international stage but it is time for him to get game time and progress in the senior game.

The 21 year old is fast and direct. Although some will say we need to develop our own the reality is we do not have that many wingers we can utilise at the moment. The season is a long slog and adding depth and class is what is needed.

Gnabry has been linked with a move to Hertha Berlin by German news outlet Bild, but I firmly believe a season at Villa Park will stand him in good stead if Wenger wants to make him a stat at Arsenal.

Who else could Aston Villa look to loan in? We surely need to add extra depth on the wings?
