# Aston Villa fans set up crowdfund to fund Lescott release

A group of Aston Villa fans have set up a Crowd Funding page online to help raise £100,000 to release outcast Joleon Lescott.

The fund on [JustGiving.com](https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Lescottout?utm_id=66&utm_term=mB8m6BG3R) says that they want to help Dr Tony Xia and the club to pay off the contract of the former West Bromwich Albion defender.

At the time of writing currently £17 has been donated to the fundraising mission by seemingly an ambitious fan or two.

Lescott had a move to SPL side Rangers fall through last week after conflicting reports came out as to why he didn’t leave the Villans.

He has been told he can leave on a free transfer this summer with other reports saying that the former England international could be released at the end of the summer transfer window if no club comes in for him.

Give a vote in our poll below on the fundraising efforts. Worth it?
